| That's because Emacs 22 still doesn't support the layout
| engine for Bengali. Emacs 22 supports only devanagari,
| kannada, malayalam, and tamil (among Indic scripts).
|
| On the other hand, Emacs 23 (not yet released, only
| available by CVS) supports all Indic scripts with OpenType
| fonts.

Thanks for answering. I built emacs and m17n* from cvs as you said and
everything went smoothly but while displaying the results of
./configure, there somethings which may be the reason of my following
questions:
Does Emacs use -lXaw3d? no
Does Emacs use -lrsvg-2? no
Does Emacs use -lm17n-flt? no
Does Emacs use -lotf? no
Now, bengali (and other languages) is enabled but emacs cannot find
fonts to display bengali (or tamil...) glyphs.
For devanagari, emacs displays the glyphs, but no longer uses cdac fonts
and the indian fonts used are unable to display any ligatures so
rendering is ugly....
Emacs is now able to use OT and ttf fonts, but with the ones I tried the
display is so small that it is impossible to work with.
Is there a way to instruct emacs to load a set of fonts at the same time
which will use to display multiple scripts, and how to enable ligatures
of glyphs: this is very important for indian writings.
Thanks a lot.
